Types of Programs
- Introductory Program - This program is designed as an introduction to the popular social dances. This allows your teacher an opportunity to take care of your immediate dancing needs and to evaluate your future ones.
- General Variety - This program will develop several of your essential social dances to a comfortable competent social standard. Emphasis is placed on the three most important elements of dancing namely foot positions, rhythm, and timing and leading and following.
- Associate Bronze - This is the program for the impatient dancer who wants everything. It will develop free flowing movement around the dance floor, much more variety, technique, footwork and your first introduction to styling, that is those sensuous latin movements and that smooth flowing grace. This program is popular with those people that want to look good on the dance floor right away.
- Full Bronze - This is the full social standard. This level of styling will have you looking very comfortable and confident on the dance floor. It will strengthen your lead and follow to the point that no matter who your partner is, what kind of music is playing, or what type of dance floor your on, you will look poised and comfortable with all the popular dances steps and many variations. It will give you all the confidence you will ever need on the dance floor. This is the fun point in dancing when you don't have to think about anything except enjoying your partner and feeling the flow with the music.
- Silver - Silver is a dance standard with a high degree of styling. Flashy movements make this standard stand out on the dance floor. Continuity of movement enables a couple to glide around the dance floor with great sophistication and grace. Technique is very important to develop this type of movement. This is the first true step to an International Style of dancing.
- Gold - Strictly for the hobby dancer who enjoys dancing for it's own sake or for the person who enjoys exhibitions. It's intricate patterns are only to be used when both people know what they are doing. Choreography, Styling, Technique and Showmanship are necessities in this standard. The smoothness and control make this a beautiful standard to sit and watch. You had better be prepared to be here a while and work hard if this is your standard, but you will truly be regarded as an outstanding dancer, able to excel in any dance there is.
Practice Fees
If you want to improve quickly, practice will help! Our floor fee is $10 per day per person for amateurs. Practice floor space is NOT available Mondays after 5:45pm, Thursdays after 7:30pm, Fridays after 8pm and Satrudays between 8am-1pm, or while any dance is running. Practice time is subject to the discretion of the studio coordinator (during busy times individuals and couples may not be allowed to practice) so we suggest calling ahead of time to confirm practice space is available. Please be courteous to all students taking class (do not play music, yell, dance through their class area of the room, etc).
People who take private lessons with studio staff in our studio may practice for free 1/2 hour before and after the lesson that day. People who have taken a private lesson with a visiting coach may practice for free for 1 hour that same day, when we have an empty ballroom available.
